Grief and Sorrow Like a long sword slew the Dragon

Grief and sorrow like a long sword slew the dragon

The blade removed
No mark was left behind
Like a bloodless sacrifice

Stillness
at the death of the monster of the deep

And the sea returns to wholeness

The patient walks again

Grief and sorrow have
Destroyed in me
The whirlwind of the day

One moment at a time
Returns to me
And I walk free.

  1. Sarah this is brilliant!! Ah, if only we all knew that grief and sorrow were our closest allies ... 'And the sea returns to wholeness' and
'Grief and sorrow have / Destroyed in me / The whirlwind of the day, have got to be among your best lines to date. It's a very deep truth; and tragically the results of the complete opposite are played everyday in a God-rufusing world. It was the Man of Sorrows who destroyed sin - that where this poem ultimately leads me to.

  2. This reminds me of what I was trying to get at in my poster "The Poison is the Remedy".
